Polestar 2 Ownership Notes

Short log of things I’ve done and noticed about my Dual-Motor 2022 Polestar 2 with Plus, Pilot packages that I bought in late July with ~38k miles.

Improvements

1: New Key Pairing

2: Performance Software Upgrade

  • What: Polestar performance software upgrade
  • Result: Smoother highway driving, more responsive throttle at all speeds. Increased horsepower from 408hp to 476hp, power from 300kW to 350kW.

  • Notes: Bought 2025-10-12, upgrade available and installed 2025-10-15

3: Matrix LED Upgrade

  • What: Upgrade to EU-only Matrix LED auto-high beam lights
  • Result: Selective high-beams don’t blind other drivers, very cool to watch them work.

Issues

Service issues documented for 2022 Polestar 2 (Performance + Pilot Package).

Issue 1: Front Suspension Noise/Wobble

  • Symptoms: Knocking/wobble sounds from front wheels at 50+ mph, similar to unbalanced tires
  • Potential Cause: Foam insulation pad between wheel and tire causing uneven mass distribution
  • Evidence: Highway noise video | Reddit discussion
  • Status: Fixed (2025-08-02)
  • Resolution: Upgrade from incorrect, unbalanced tires put on by used car dealer (Bill Luke Chrysler Dodge in Phoenix) and/or previous owner to Continental Control Contact Sport STS+ 245/40 R20. New tires are very quiet and much higher quality.

Issue 2: Low-Speed Knocking

  • Symptoms: Knocking/creaking from front suspension when turning at low speeds
  • Documentation: NHTSA ID 10244272 | TSB 10244272 (2023)
  • Status: No Issue

Issue 3: Rear Axle Clicking

  • Symptoms: Faint clicking from rear axles during 1-pedal deceleration (10-20mph).
  • Affected: 2021-2022 Polestar 2
  • Evidence: Audio example
  • Documentation: NHTSA ID 10253278 | TSB 10253278 (2024)
  • Status: Minor / Not Fixed
